Associate Professor of Economics at Winthrop University, Dr. Laura Ullrich talks about community and economics in America and abroad. We discuss the need to maximize physical connectivity between cities. She talks about the meaningful transformation she’s participated in and observed in Bolivia, and the impact the internet has had there. She also talks about choosing Old Town Rock Hill work and live, and her hopes for the town’s future.

Laura grew up in  Athens, Georgia. She’s earned a BBA in Economics from the University of Georgia in a addition to a MA and a PhD in Economics from The University of Tennessee.  She’s also worked as a business consultant for Ernst & Young.  Her interests lie in higher education, school finance reform, local and state level tax and expenditure analyses, welfare policy, and environmental economics.  She believes in real world, international experience for students learning about economics and practices it herself. In 2014, she served as a Fulbright Scholar in Kosovo.
