Simply Asking Folks About How They Use the Web

Comments Off on Simply Asking Folks About How They Use the Web | By

We’re starting a very large project here at RevenFlo, and I am in a phase of planning, researching, and imagining interface, usability, and such. So, I have been asking those around me questions like, Which websites do you use frequently? Why do you go there? What do you do there? It has been fascinating to hear the responses. They mostly fit into the categories of behavior that I would have put forward as standard anyway – to get information, to discover interesting things, to engage with a group of people, to share content with groups of people or the world, etc. But it’s a pretty powerful experience to hear it from each person. The best part about this experience is that they are making up their answers as they go, which is powerful because it’s like they haven’t thought of it before, but they get very interested in talking about it (it’s even hard to get away sometimes). Good stuff.
