Athens Achieves job portal development

After more than a year of systems-level planning and implementation, AthensAchieves.com has launched as a community workforce platform designed to address not only job matching, but the structural barriers that prevent full employment in Athens–Clarke County.

Jason served as the workforce consultant and project designer for Athens Achieves, working in partnership with the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce and Clarke County, GA. The project was intentionally framed as a workforce-infrastructure initiative—not a traditional job board—grounded in the understanding that labor shortages are often the result of service gaps, access barriers, and misaligned systems rather than a lack of willing workers.

The platform integrates job opportunities in Athens, GA, with locally available support services, including transportation, childcare, second-chance employment programs, mental health resources, and other wrap-around services that materially affect workforce participation. By embedding these resources directly into the employment experience, Athens Achieves reflects how public policy, social services, and labor markets intersect in practice.

The project was designed as a multi-year, community-wide system, incorporating navigator-supported workflows for employers, job seekers, and community partners. These guided experiences reduce friction, improve outcomes, and help ensure that users do not fall through gaps between institutions.

Critically, the system also generates actionable workforce intelligence for policymakers and public agencies. The platform surfaces data on skill mismatches, transportation constraints, childcare availability, and other structural impediments to employment, providing local leaders with evidence to inform funding decisions, program design, and cross-agency coordination.

Athens Achieves demonstrates how workforce development can move beyond transactional hiring toward a coordinated, data-informed public good.
