Marketing as Communication not Tactic

54 Comments | By

I don’t want to contact anybody and start telling them what I do, trying to get their business. I don’t want to ask anybody to use their contact information as currency to purchase something I created for the sole reason of getting that information. I see these methodologies around me in certain spaces, used in different ways, and they don’t sit well with me. The feel like noise and manipulation; I like communication and collaboration and authenticity. I believe the best marketing is when you are doing something really great and you are willing to take the time to talk about it to those who are interested. It’s best, I believe, to work to add value and serve. Then, communicate that experience, collaboration, and result so that those who are interested can learn more about it. Motivated people will contact you.
